The Secret to Perfect Soft and Chewy Cookies
There is nothing more comforting than a warm, homemade chocolate chip cookie straight from the oven. If you love cookies that are crispy on the edges but soft and gooey in the center, you’ve come to the right place!
At Kitchen by Mom, we believe the best recipes are the simplest ones. Today, I’m sharing our family-favorite cookie recipe that takes less than 20 minutes to prepare.
Why This Recipe Works:
One Bowl: Very easy to clean up afterward.
No Chilling Required: You can bake them immediately!
Perfect Texture: Perfectly balanced between soft and crunchy.
Ingredients:
1 cup Unsalted butter (softened at room temperature)
¾ cup White sugar
¾ cup Brown sugar (This is the secret to the "chewy" texture!)
2 Large eggs
1 tsp Vanilla extract
2 ¼ cups All-purpose flour
1 tsp Baking soda
½ tsp Salt
2 cups Semi-sweet chocolate chips
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Cream the Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with both white and brown sugars until the mixture is light and fluffy.
2. Add Wet Ingredients: Mix in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
3. Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix!
4. Fold in the Chocolate: Stir in the chocolate chips by hand using a spatula.
5. Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a baking sheet. Bake for 9–11 minutes until the edges are golden but the centers still look soft.
Kitchen by Mom Tips for Success:
Use Brown Sugar: Never skip the brown sugar; it’s what makes the cookies moist and soft.
Don’t Overbake: The cookies will continue to firm up on the hot baking sheet even after you take them out of the oven.
Enjoy them with a cold glass of milk!
